Charleston mayoral candidate John Tecklenburg leads the pace of those looking to follow Joe Riley in terms of raising cash ahead of next November’s city election. But it’s close.
Tecklenburg, the first candidate to announce a bid, has more than $95,000 on hand, according to his recently filed financial report with the S.C. Ethics Commission.
Following him is restaurant developer Dick Elliott with $80,367 on hand. Elliott only recently announced his bid.
The third candidate formally in the running, former City Council member Paul Tinkler, reported $30,962 for the period that ended September 30.
